The Italian Banking Association presents the twenty-sixth edition of the Report on the Labour Market in the Financial Industry.
The volume provides for the usual updating of comparative data (both national and international) on employment, wages and labour costs.
With reference to the Italian labour market, the Report not only analyses the Legislative Decree No. 87/2018, (converted with Law No. 96/2018), but it also provides a review of the measures contained in the 2018 Budget Law (Law No. 205/2017) to stabilize the hiring of young people under 30; such measures were then supported by incentives for employing NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training).
With regard to trade union relations in the Italian credit sector, the 2018 report examines the status of the renewal of national collective labour agreements expiring on 31 December 2018, and it reports on the negotiations between the Italian Banking Association and the trade unions for the definition of a shared document on the subject of combating harassment and gender-based violence in the workplace. It also reviews the actions implemented by the national parties regarding trade-union freedoms and worker representatives for safety. The volume also presents the usual reporting on welfare initiatives in the banking sector.
Finally, the 2018 report highlights the significant organizational restructuring processes at some of the main European banks, with explicit reference to the impact on the labour factor, and the strategies to adapt processes and cost structures, while also seeking best competitive positions.
This report was produced by an Italian Banking Association working group consisting of the personnel from the following offices: Welfare and Union Relations, Labour Advisory and Assistance, Social Affairs and Labour Policies, Research and the EBR Observatory.
