The Italian Banking Association presents the twen- ty-eigth edition of its annual report on the labour market in the financial services industry.
The volume provides the regular update of compar- isons about employment, wages and labour costs at a national and international level and an analysis of the organizational restructuring taking place in some European banking markets.
With regard to the Italian labour market, the report examines the various provisions that impacted the governance of employment and social-welfare rela- tionships in 2020. In view of the extraordinary situ- ation prompted by the spread of COVID-19, Parliament, the Italian government and other authorities adopted measures to respond to the need for providing immediate and effective solu- tions to the business world and the issue of employ- ment in general. The measures concerned various areas, some related to safety and healthcare, includ- ing within companies, and others related to the economic/employment impact of the pandemic. For the part traditionally dedicated to union rela- tions, the 2020 edition examines the trends of sec- ond-level collective bargaining and provides the usual in-depth analysis on the development of wel- fare policies in the sector. In addition, the report discusses social dialogue in Europe, examining the activity carried out by the Italian Banking Association, as part of the European Banking Federation, which led, among other things, to the signing of the Joint Declaration on Commercial Policies on 7 May 2020.
This report was produced by an Italian Banking Association working group consisting of the person- nel from the following offices: Trade Union Relations and Welfare, Labour Assistance and Consultancy, Social Affairs and Labour Policies, Research and the European Banking Report (EBR) Observatory.
