19, Parliament, the Italian government and other authorities adopted measures to respond to the need for providing immediate and effective solutions to the business world and the issue of employment in general. The measures concerned various areas, some related to safety and healthcare, including within companies, and others related to the eco- nomic/employment impact of the pandemic.
Chapter 6 illustrates the trends of second-level collective bargain- ing and provides the usual in-depth analysis on the development of wel- fare policies in the sector. In addition, the chapter discusses social dia- logue in Europe, examining the activity carried out by the Italian Banking Association, as part of the European Banking Federation, which led, among other things, to the signing of the Joint Declaration on Commercial Policies on 7 May 2020.
Chapter 7 takes a look at the organizational restructuring process- es taking place within leading European banks, with explicit reference to their impact on the labour factor; the chapter also highlights the strategies for adapting processes and cost structures, while simultane- ously seeking the best competitive positions.
